Looking at spending when overseas
Posted in Uncategorized on 03/28/2009 03:51 pm by FriendsOfCMy subject today is money. I am going to discuss some major topics which I think may be relevant to you and I, and which I think are newsworthy. To begin with, I am going to discuss travel currency. I went to Venezuela recently for a volunteer project, and was looking into the value for money way to take currency there. There are a plethora of things to mull over before ordering travel cash. For instance, what happens if you run out of money while you’re overseas? What are the options to swap money – if any? Many countries will have free agents walking around the streets who will claim to be able to get you superior exchange rates. Be clear: they are not likely to be legal and you could get yourself in a lot of trouble for dealing with them. Always look for official, sponsored foreign exchange retailers. It is not worth getting in trouble with the law, especially in some countries where penalties are strict. So you may have explored some value for money ways to take cash abroad, and I’ll come back to that topic later.
But another thing I would like to examine is the offer which has something of a two-sided image – that of the 24 hour. There are many ways to get a payday loan, and they usually have names like payday loans uk or wage advance for you – something straightforward and easy to search for. But there are matters you may want to think about with this form of borrowing money, and these include: will you be able to meet the repayments? Have you considered the interest rate? Why are you after a quick loan in the first place? Many payday loan merchants stand accused of aiming for low income consumers who are in desperate need of cash, and do not have a good credit history in order to get a normal loan from one of the main lenders. Whichever way you look at it, it is worthwhile to do some exploration on them. And above all, make sure you can afford it – you do not want to get caught out with an APR rate of well over 1000%.
So have you given any more thought to our earlier topic of holiday money? When I went to Guatemala, I arranged to have enough currency beforehand. In order to get the greatest exchange rates, the best option is to order money in advance. There are hundreds of online providers who deal in very competitive rates, and will be far superior to what you will find at the airport – and local agencies once you have landed at your destination. Something to bear in mind is also whether the continent you are going to is able to accept major currencies such as the pound sterling – this can make a disctinct difference to you and to your holiay in that country.
