You Might Qualify for Tax Credits for Home Improvements
Posted in Uncategorized on 02/04/2012 02:08 pm by FriendsOfCThere is almost nothing better than being able to get tax credits for home improvements in my opinion. Maybe it is because my house has needed so much work the last few years but until recently I did not realize that I could actually get credit on what I spend for some of the improvements that I want to get done. Now that I have an understanding of how it all works, I can get started on some of the projects that have been putting on the back burner. I really encourage everyone to learn about what they can and can’t get in terms of credits when it comes to working on the house. You never know what kind of break you can get, especially when you are making your home more earth friendly and cost efficient as the Government tends to favor these types of improvements to your home.
We’ve lived in our house for about 30 years and are doing a lot of remodeling and improvements. We re-sided our house with a new vinyl siding. We chose a dark green and painted the trim white along with painting the porch and the deck white. We put new shingles on the roof and had a new garage door put in. We also had a new bathtub, sink and toilet put in to replace our old ones. My husband wanted wood floors in the living room, hallway andour three bedrooms, so we just finished that project. Something else that we needed, were new windows. We were told that if we put energy-saving windows I to replace our old windows, and if we added more insulation, we could get tax credits for home improvements. We decided to replace all 12 windows in our home and add extra insulation in the attic and in our garage.
